Shop Tools

I have been gradually acquiring and upgrading my shop tools over the past several years, particularly since building out the shop in the past two years.  In Spring 2007, I picked up my first piece of "old arn" woodworking equipment -- a 1959 Delta Unisaw -- that triggered an immediate interest and desire to learn how to restore old machinery that continues to grow.

The heart of the shop is the 1959 Delta Unisaw, with a 52" Biesemeyer fence system and Bies splitter.  I got it in an auction from the Art School where I work, in a non-working and unusable state.  A month later, after a restoration that involved a complete breakdown, stripping, motor overhaul, and reassembly, it was turned into the state shown here as put to use.

Assembly Table frot
The assembly table in the middle of the shop is 4'x4' and is made up of two cabinet-type pieces with 2'x4' maple butcher block slabs on top.  The unit contains four cubby-style storage areas underneath the top.  Two of the cubbies store vacuum systems:  a Festool CT 33 and a Fein Turbo III.  The other two cubbies store mobile cabinets that contain a variety of items such as saws, drills, sanders, hand tools, sanding supplies, and finishing supplies.
